Campaign Cost Settings


Feature Summary: The following document defines the methods to include cost collection and aggregation for networks within a new or existing campaign.

NOTE: Many cost integrations rely upon the Kochava Tracker ID to be included as part of the naming convention of the campaign within the network specific dashboard. For more information, refer to the Tracker ID Field Mapping section for a list of partner fields which should be used to add tracker ID to a campaign.


Create a Campaign with a Cost Supporting Partner

The information in this section describes the process for creating a new campaign that will collect cost data.

 

Create a Campaign:

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired app.
  3. Select App Tools>Campaign Manager.
  4.  

     

  5. Click Add a Campaign.
  6. Enter a Campaign Name.
  7. Enter the Default Destination URL.
  8. Click Save.
  9. Locate the newly created campaign and click Campaign Tools>Add a Segment.
  10. Enter a Segment Name.
  11. Enter a Description. (optional)
  12. Click Submit.
  13. Expand the newly created campaign and click Segment Tools>Add a Tracker.
  14. Enter a Tracker Name.
  15. Select the Tracker Type.
  16. Select a Network.
  17. NOTE: For a list of networks that have the ability to collect cost data, refer to the Cost Enabled Networks section in this document.

  18. Select a Destination URL Type.
  19. Enter a Deeplink. (optional)
  20. Select a Price Type:
    1. CPC (Cost per Click)
    2. CPI (Cost per Install)
    3. CPM (Cost per Mille)
    4. CPA (Cost per Action)
    5. CPC/CPI (Cost per Click and Cost per Install)
    6. CPM/CPI (Cost per Mille and Cost per Install)
    7. CPM/CPC (Cost per Mille and Cost per Click)

     

    BEST PRACTICES: Any dollar amount that is added into the Price Override field will override any cost data that is sent by the network. Price data can vary. To obtain the most accurate cost data, leave the Price Override field at $0.00.

    A. Select the Price Type that matches the cost data being sent from the network.
    B. Enter a Static Price. It is NOT recommended to add any value into this field.

  21. Click Save & Add Another Tracker (If additional trackers need to be created).
  22. Click Submit (If no further trackers need to be created).

 

Create a Postback:

  1. Click App Tools>Partner Configuration.
  2.  

     

  3. Click Add a Configuration.
  4. Select a Network Partner.
  5. Click Go.
  6. NOTE: For a list of networks that have the ability to collect cost data, refer to the Cost Enabled Network section in this document.

  7. Select Install>Postback Tools>Edit.
  8. Enter any network specific data.
  9. Select a Delivery Delay.
  10. Select the number of Retry Attempts.
  11. Select the Delivery Method.
  12. Click Save.

 

Enter Network Credentials:

  1. Click App Tools>Partner Configuration.
  2. Locate the desired network.
  3. Select Network Tools>Credentials.
  4.  

     

  5. Enter network specific authentication data.
  6. Toggle Collect Cost>On.
  7. NOTE: If available, multiple account IDs may be associated with cost collection.

  8. Click Save.

Update a Campaign to Collect Cost Data from a Supporting Partner

The information in this section describes the process for updating a previously created campaign to collect cost data.

 

Update Tracker Information:

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired app.
  3. Select App Tools>Campaign Manager.
  4.

  5. Locate the desired tracker and Select Tracker Tools>Edit.
  6. Select a Price Type:
    1. CPC (Cost per Click)
    2. CPI (Cost per Install)
    3. CPM (Cost per Mille)
    4. CPA (Cost per Action)
    5. CPC/CPI (Cost per Click and Cost per Install)
    6. CPM/CPI (Cost per Mille and Cost per Install)
    7. CPM/CPC (Cost per Mille and Cost per Click)

NOTE: After the tracker settings have been updated, the tracking URLs must be sent to the advertiser to ensure that cost data is properly collected.

  3. Select Network Tools>Credentials.

  5. Enter network specific authentication data.
  6. Toggle Collect Cost>On.
  7. NOTE: If available, multiple account IDs may be associated with cost collection.

  8. Click Save.

Enabling Collected Restated Cost

Collected Restated Cost provides the most accurate collected cost for each media partner that is cost enabled. The Restated Cost report provides updated cost data 1 day, 2 days, 7 days, 14 days, 30 days and 60 days after the specific date you are analyzing cost for.

NOTE: Restated cost will only start being collected once the toggle has been turned on, data will not retroactively be populated.

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired campaign.
  3. Select App Tools>Partner Configuration.
  4.  

     

  5. Locate the desired network.
  6. Select Network Tools>Credentials.
  7.  

     

  8. Enter network specific authentication data.
  9. Toggle Collect Restated Cost>On.

Multiple Network Account Integration

The following table provides the schemas for customers who have multiple accounts with the identified partner platforms.

NOTE: In some cases, cost is requested from a partner API based upon a unique ID. In these cases, Kochava supports comma delimited values in the relevant UI field to ensure that cost is gathered from all active partner accounts.

 

Partner Schema
Facebook Comma separated account IDs.
Google Adwords Comma separated client customer IDs.
Nanigans Comma separated site IDs.

Tracker ID Field Mapping

The following table provides the SAN partner fields which should be used to add tracker id to a campaign.

NOTE: The tracker id value is a numeric string available within the campaign manager in your account. (i.e., 13033304537)

Apple Search Cost Credentials

  1. Log in to Apple Search Ads.
  2. Click on the Account>Settings.
  3.  

     

  4. Click the API tab.
  5. Click Create API Certificate
  6. Enter a API certificate name.
  7. Select an Account Level:
    1. Account admin
    2. Account Read only
  8. Click Create.
  9.  

     

  10. Click Actions>Download certificate.
  11.  

     

    NOTE: The PEM and key are located within the zip file.

  12. Add the PEM and key to Kochava.
  13.  

    BEST PRACTICES: Include the header and footer lines when the values are pasted into Kochava (—–BEGIN CERTIFICATE—–, —END CERTIFICATE—–, etc.).
