Engagement Audiences


Kochava Engagement provides several methods for either creating or importing audiences. Once audiences have been created within Engagement, specifically targeted messages can be sent the entire audience or segments of the audience. Kochava provides several tools to create Engagement audiences such as Analytics and Query.


Engagement Audience Interface

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select Kochava Apps>Engagement.

Engagement Audiences Overview

Engagement Audiences is divided into three sections. The first section provides tools for locating audiences, the second section is the list of audiences that have been created or imported and the third is the audience import tool.

 

A. Audience Search and Organization Tools.
B. Audience List.
C. Audience Import Tool.


Audiences Location and Organization

Engagement Audiences can be easily located by utilizing the audience search and organization tools.

 

Live Search Tool:

Engagement Audiences can be easily located using the live search tool by typing part or all of the name of an audience.

 

Audience Organization:

Audiences can be organized by using one of the following:

 

Sort –

  • Name (A-Z)
  • Name (Z-A)
  • Newest
  • Oldest

 

Type –

  • All
  • Filter
  • Test Audience
  • Uploaded

 

Status –

  • All
  • Active
  • Archived
  • Failed

Audience List

The Engagement Audience list provides an overview of the audiences that have been created or imported. Each audience’s name, creation method, number of users within the audience, current status and the date the audience was created is displayed.

 

A. User defined audience name and creation method.
B. Number of users within the audience.
C. Status of the audience.
D. Date the audience was created.
E. Audience Tools menu.

 

Audience List Menus:

Depending on the status of the audience an Audience Tools menu is provided. The following options are available within the Audience Tools menu:

 

Active –

  • Rename – Update the user defined name of the audience group.
  • Archive – Set the audience group to archived status.

 

Failed –

  • Archive – Set the audience group to archived status.

 

Audience Detail:

Clicking on an audience will display the details associated with that audience. Depending on the status of the audience an Audience Tools menu is provided within the audience detail section as well.

 


Creating an Audience in Analytics

Analytics Funnel provides a fully customizable view of user paths through the selected app. At any point within the path that the users take through the app, groups of users can be selected and saved to Kochava Engagement.

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired app.
  3. Select App Tools>Analytics.
  4.  

     

    NOTE: By default, the Analytics Dashboard Interface is loaded.

     

  5. Select the Analytics drop-down menu>Funnel.
  6.  

     

  7. Add events to the Funnel. For more information on using the Funnel, refer to our Analytics Funnel support documentation.

    NOTE: The path that the Funnel displays that user took through the use of an app displays both the users that completed the selected events and the users that fell out of the Funnel at each event. Each group of users, user that either completed a specific event or users that fell out of the funnel, may be selected to be sent to Kochava Push.

     

  9. Locate and Click on the desired Audience Group and Select Save as Audience.
  10.  

     

  11. Enter an Audience Name.
  12. Enter a Description.
  13.  

    BEST PRACTICES: It is highly recommended that a highly descriptive audience name and description is entered. Having highly descriptive audience names and description will enable the quick location of the desired audiences.

     

  14. Select a Date Range:
    • Static – Timeframe will be a specific period of time.
    • Dynamic – Timeframe will be a rolling window (Last 30 days).
  15. Click Save.

     


Creating an Audience in Query

Tables within the Kochava Query may be JOINED and the list saved in order to be used within Push.

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired app.
  3. Select App Tools>Query.
  4.  

     

  5. Run the desired Query. For more information on the available Queries and columns within each Query table, refer to our Query support documentation and our Query Reference support documentation.
  6. Click Email.
  7.  

    A zip file will be created with a CSV file format included and emailed to the selected email address. The audience created through Query may now be imported into Engagements using the steps in the Import an Audience section below.


Import an Audience

  1. Click Import an Audience.
  2. Enter an Audience Name.
  3. Enter a Description.
  4. Select the desired App.
  5. Check Test Audience. (optional)
  6.  

    NOTE: Test audiences are utilized to send Engagement messages in order to evaluate the message on different devices.

     

  7. Select an Import Method:

    a. CSV

    i. Click Browse.
    ii. Locate the desired CSV file.
    iii. Click Import.

    b. URL

    i. Enter the URL.
    ii. Click Import.

 

NOTE: Files that are being imported must be in a comma separated value (csv) format. The CSV file must contain both the type field (the device ID type associated to the device ID. e.g., IDFA and ADID) and the id field (the device ID of the device that installed the app. e.g., IDFA, ADID). For more information, refer to the example files provided below.
