Audience Manager

The Audience Manger is a powerful tool that enables users to view, organize and activate audience segments. Additionally, custom lookalike audiences can be generated from any of the segments in Audience Manager.

The Audience Manager is divided into three main sections. The search tools to locate specific audience segments. The audience segment section displays all of the audience segments that have been user created, activated, archived and the segments that are currently in process. And the third section is the detail section which provides an in-depth look into any highlighted audience segments.


Kochava Collective® Interface

  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired Account.
  3. Select Collective > Audience Manager.
  4.  


Audience Segment Search Tools

Audience Segments can be searched for by the use of any of the following:

  • Search By Name — Type part of or the entire name to locate a specific audience segment.
  • Sort — Audience segments can be organized by:
    • Created
    • Device Count
    • Name
    • Relevance
  • Type — Audience segments can be organized by:
    • All
    • Custom
    • Lookalike
    • Prepackaged
    • Upload
  • Status — Audience segments can be grouped by their current condition:
    • All
    • Archived
    • Processing
    • Activated
    • Ready
    • Failed
    • Failed-Activation

 

Search Tools

NOTE: The Status filter is often set to Ready by default. If you are looking for a recently saved/created/uploaded audience, select All under the status filter, as the audience may still be processing.


Audience Segment Section

The Audience Segment Section contains all of the audience segments that have been sent to the Audience Manager, activated with a partner or imported. An Audience Tools menu () is provided to perform various tasks.

 

Audience Tools:

  • Audience Insights — Displays the audience details for the selected audience segment.
  • Customize — Use the selected audience segment as a starting place to create a customized segment.
  • NOTE: This feature is not available with Lookalike or Uploaded audiences.

  • Activate with Partner — Activate the selected audience segment with an Activation Partner (e.g., Facebook, Snapchat).
  • Generate Lookalike — Create an audience segment that mirrors the selected audience segment from Audience Manager.
  • NOTE: Generating a lookalike model requires an audience with 5K devices or more.

  • Create Copy — Create a copy of the selected audience segment.
  •  

    BEST PRACTICES: When sending audiences to more than one Activation Partner, create a copy of the audience for each activation.

     

  • Rename — Update the user defined name of the audience segment.
  • NOTE: Audience names cannot be changed after the audience has been activated, or while the audience is in a Status of processing.

  • Delete — Remove the selected audience segment from the Audience Manager.
  • NOTE: Archived audience segments will not be visible in Audience Manager unless the status Archived is selected.

 

Segment Tools

 

Audience Segment Detail Section:

Once an Audience Segment has been selected, the details of that segment will be displayed on the right-hand side of the audience. This will display general information about the audience specific to the type of audience that is selected.

 

Custom —

Audience segments build using Audience Builder.

  • Number of devices included in the audience segment.
  • Filters selected from Audience Builder.

 

Prepackaged —

Audiences that have been Activated with Partner or Saved to Audience Manager from Audience Explorer.

  • Number of devices included in the audience segment.
  • Filters selected from Audience Builder when available. When selected filters are not available (ex. Prepackaged audiences that are location-based) audience description will be provided.

 

Lookalike —

Audiences that have been generated to mirror another audience in Audience Manager.

  • Number of devices included in the audience segment.

 

Uploads —

Audiences that have been uploaded using the Import An Audience feature in Audience Manager.

  • Number of devices included in the audience segment.
  • Audience description. This will be provided by the user as they upload the audience segment.

 

The following data can be displayed within the Audience Segment Detail section for all types of audiences:

  • Apps on Device
  • Demographics
  • Interests and Behaviors
  • Points of Interest

    An Audience Tools menu () is also present within the Audience Segment Detail section, which contains the same options listed above.

    Segment Data Display —

    The following data can be displayed within the Audience Segment:

    • Apps of Device
    • Demographics
    • Interests and Behaviors
    • Points of Interest

    Import an Audience

    The Audience Import feature in Audience Manager will allow you to upload your own list of devices to use for generating lookalike audiences, suppressing from other audiences, etc.

     

    NOTE: Uploading improperly formatted CSV files will cause issues. If using line terminators, CRLF line terminators must be used.

    Audience Import Requirements:

    1. Audience file must be a simple 2 column CSV file from your computer, or from an online source (e.g., Public Amazon S3 bucket or other server).
    2. File must contain device_id (column A) and device_id_type (column B).
    3. File must NOT contain any blank rows.
    4. File must NOT contain any column headers.
    5. Accepted device_id format:
      Regular Expression = ^[0-9a-f]{8}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{4}-[0-9a-f]{12}$

    Audience Import:

    1. Click Import an Audience.
    2. Enter an Audience Name.
    3. Enter a Description.
    4. Select an Import Method:
      • Click Browse, and locate the desired CSV file.
      • Cut and Paste an S3 link into the provided field.
        Example: https://s3-us-west-2.amazonaws.com/kochava-outbox/packaged_segments/sample_file_upload.csv
      •  

        WARNING: To use this method, the S3 link you are importing must be set to public.

         

    5. Click Import

      A. Select to import a CSV file or Enter an S3 link.


    CSV File Format:

    Required FieldsDescription
    device_idThe device id for the device that installed the app. (IDFA or ADID).
    device_typeThe Device ID type associated to the device ID (IDFA and ADID only).
