Instance Method – setAppLimitAdTrackingBool:

  • Instance Method

    setAppLimitAdTrackingBool(_:)

Sets a boolean switch which indicates whether a user of the app wants to limit advertising tracking.

    Declaration

    Parameters

appLimitAdTrackingBool A boolean which when true will limit advertising tracking.

    Discussion

The default state of this feature is false. This means that by default there is no limit of advertising tracking from the application. There may still separately be a limit of ad tracking from the operating system, which is a similar but distinct feature of the operating system.

This tracker method, and its associated feature, may be used to supplement the operating system feature with application level support. The app can present the user with a switch-like user interface to “Limit Ad Tracking” similar to the feature provided by the operating system in Privacy Settings. When your custom application-level switch is changed, this method can be used to report the new state. The purpose of this feature is not to replace the operating system feature, which is ever-present, but to offer another level of privacy to the user which can be integrated within the app’s user interface.
