Creating a Yahoo! Campaign

The following document describes how to set up a campaign for Yahoo!.

NOTE: Only one Yahoo! campaign within Kochava is required to track ALL Yahoo! traffic. Any additional Yahoo! campaigns setup with Kochava will display no activity.

NOTE: Create one Tracker for each Yahoo! Partner you are working with. It is not required to create a Segment for each Yahoo! Partner within the Campaign; all Yahoo! Platforms Partner Trackers can reside in a single Segment.

NOTE: In order for data to be properly attributed to Yahoo! Partners, a proper naming convention must be used when setting up your campaigns in Yahoo!. For more information about the proper naming conventions to be used for Yahoo! Partners within Yahoo!, refer to our Yahoo! Partner Naming Conventions support documentation.

BEST PRACTICES: Due to Kochava only requiring one (1) Tracker for all Yahoo! campaigns, it is best to keep the naming convention general (i.e., Yahoo!).

Data Needed Before Beginning Process:

  • Numeric app store app ID (iOS – found within the app’s store URL)
  • Package Name (Android)

Create a Yahoo! Campaign

BEST PRACTICES: It is HIGHLY recommended that a Tracker ID be appended to the partner campaign name e.g., the campaign name within the Yahoo! UI. The Tracker ID can be easily located within Kochava’s Campaign Manager, expand the section below for instructions on locating the ID.

Locate Tracker ID:
  1. Once a tracker has been created, navigate to Campaign Manager.
  2. Locate and click on the desired Campaign.
  3. Select the desired Segment.
  4. Locate the desired Tracker, and Check the associated selection box.
  5. Locate and copy the Tracker ID.
  1. Log in to Kochava.
  2. Select the desired Account and App.
  3. Select Engagement > Campaign Manager.

Feature Note: To add this menu item to your Favorites Menu, select the “+” sign that appears when you hover over the menu. The Features Menu provides quick access to your most frequently visited areas of the Kochava UI.

NOTE: As Yahoo! is a SAN, Kochava does not handle the click redirect therefore a Destination URL is not required.

  1. Click + Add (Tracker) or Select Segment Tools () > Add Tracker.
  2. Enter the Tracker Name.

NOTE: When a Tracker is created, Kochava automatically generates a name for the Tracker. We recommend that you replace the Tracker name at this point with a clear name of your choosing.

  1. Select Tracker Type > Acquisition. (default setting)
  2. Select Media Partner > Yahoo!.
  3. Select an Agency Partner. (optional)
  4. Select Default Tracker:
    1. On
    2. Off (default)

NOTE: Selecting On will allow SAN network traffic to funnel to the default tracker when no tracker ID is present. If a default tracker is not set up and the tracker ID is not appended to the partner campaign name, that data will be bucketed in the most recently set up tracker for that network.

  1. Enter or update the Install Destination URL.
  2. Enter a Deep Link. (optional)
  3. Enter any Custom Parameters. (optional)
  4. Click Save. (If no further trackers need to be created)
  5. Click Save & Add Another Tracker. (If additional trackers need to be created)
  6. Click Save & Create Postback. (To navigate directly to the Partner Configuration page).
