This document provides overview for each of the Fraud Views within Kochava.
Fraud Summary
The Fraud Console Summary page provides an in-depth look into statistical outliers identified by the Kochava fraud prevention tools. Suspicious activity is highlighted and may be easily investigated further. The Fraud Summary page provides an easy location to review the potential fraud and view the data by fraud group, fraud type, app name, network name and platform.
Anonymized Activity (Beta)
The Anonymized Activity page provides a detailed view of the number of installs where the IP address has been anonymized.
Click Flooding
The Click Flooding page provides a high level overview of the fraudulent clicks associated with the selected apps, as well as graphs providing detailed views into the App Totals, Network Totals and Top Site IDs that are responsible for the highest CTI ratio.
Device Attribute Outliers (Beta)
The Device Attribute Outliers page provides insights into sites and networks that have a statistically different distribution of device attributes (screen orientation, screen brightness, volume or data connection) compared to the app as an average. This typically identifies bot activity as a site_id will see much of its attributed installs same device attributes where the rest of the install base will see installs across many different settings for the attribute.
Google Referrer Mismatch (Beta)
The Google Referrer Mismatch page provides insights into installs where Google and Kochava do not have matching sources of those installs.
High Click Volume Devices
The High Click Volume Devices page provides a detailed view of the devices that are registering an excessively large number of clicks within a day. Several displays are available to provide insights into the apps, networks sites and devices driving the large number of clicks associated with the account.
High Click Volume IP Addresses
The High Click Volume IP Addresses page provides a detailed view of the IP addresses that are registering a excessively large number of clicks for a day (excludes cellular networks).
Invalid Device ID (Beta)
The Invalid Device ID page provides an in-depth look into the clicks, installs and impressions that contain device ID’s that do not match standard UUID 4 standards.
Jailbroken Installs (Beta)
The Jailbroken Installs page provides insight into the networks and site_id’s that have an abnormally high percentage of installs coming from devices that have been jailbroken. When high levels of installs associated with Jailbroken devices are present, this can signal manufactured installs as those levels are normally very low within the ecosystem.
Mean-Time-to-Install (MTTI) Outliers
The Mean-Time-to-Install Outliers page provides a detailed view of the number of installs that fall outside the average time between click and install.
New Devices (Beta)
The New Devices page provides insight into publishers that have high rates of attributed installs that are coming from new device IDs not previously observed by Kochava. High rates of new device ID’s are often signs of programmatically generated installs (i.e., bot farms). In order to be identified as fraud the publisher must have a percentage of new devices that are greater then or equal to 90%. Devices are identified at the site_id level per app over a trailing 30 days.
Non-Verified Install Receipts
The Non-Verified Install Receipts page provides a detailed view of the number of installs that occurred with non-verified install receipts.
Non-Verified Purchase Receipts
The Non-Verified Purchase Receipts page provides a detailed view of the number of purchases that occurred with non-verified purchase receipts.
SDK Outliers (Beta)
The SDK Outliers page provides an in-depth look into installs that contain outdated Kochava SDK’s compared to the average rate for the app as a whole. As advertisers publish updates to the app stores, new installs of the app should all have the same SDK version. Publishers that are using programmatic means to generate installs will often have older SDK versions associated with them.
Mean-Time-to-Install (MTTI) Outliers
The Mean-Time-to-Install Outliers page provides a detailed view of the number of installs that fall outside the average time between click and install.
Time-to-Install (TTI) Distribution
The Time-to-Install (TTI) Distribution page provides a detailed view of the number of installs that occurred between a 1 and 5 day window after the initial click, as well as the number of installs that occurred within the same time-frame that fell outside the expected window and therefore indicates a high probability of fraud.
Manage Account Blocklist
The Account Blocklist page provides visibility to the Site IDs, IP Addresses and Device IDs that have been added to the Local Blocklist. The associated traffic will be added to the Account Blocklist and also will be flagged by Kochava’s Traffic Verifier.
